Objective: To provide access to safe water, basic sanitation and promote positive hygiene practices among vulnerable and hard to reach communities
ver 2.2 billion persons lack access to safe drinking water globally, while more than half of the world’s population does not have access to safe sanitation. WARDA’s WASH interventions aim to contribute to reducing this global challenge by providing access to safe water, basic sanitation and promoting positive hygiene practices among communities. WARDA’s WASH interventions, with a reach of of 6834 persons, among them school children are based on community engagement for sustainability. WARDA works closely with other stakeholders to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic by providing infection prevention supplies.
In terms of water, sanitation and hygiene, WASDA has heavily invested in water infrastructure by drilling and equipping two boreholes and providing submersible pumps, genset and fast moving spare parts to another 6 boreholes. Through our partnership with World bank and we ae planning to drill 7 new boreholes and equipped four additional boreholes with hybrid solar systems and constructing water pans and rehabilitating shallow wells.
We do hygiene related interventions including health education and promotion including handwashing and open defecation.
